🏫 About the Fellowship

This fellowship is designed for staff or freelance journalists with a proven track record in covering topics such as immigration, politics, social issues, global affairs, or the economy. It offers a rare chance to step away from the newsroom and immerse yourself in a focused period of learning and exchange.

During the residency, fellows will:

  • Gain deeper insights into migration dynamics.
  • Share perspectives on journalism practices with researchers.
  • Explore effective ways to communicate research with the media.

Note: There is no expectation for journalists to produce stories about Toronto Metropolitan University during or after their residency.

The residency will take place in Toronto, Canada, for a consecutive period of 20 to 35 days between March 1 - November 30, 2026 (excluding July and August).

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of media work experience.
  • A proven track record of covering complex issues with an international scope.
