The World Trade Organization (WTO) is currently accepting applications for its Young Trade Leaders Programme 2026. This initiative aims to connect exceptional young individuals with the WTO, fostering new perspectives and ideas about the role of trade while providing participants with valuable learning opportunities.

📖 About WTO Young Trade Leaders Programme

The Young Trade Leaders Programme, established in 2024, seeks to build closer links between young people and the WTO. Selected candidates will:

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of how trade can benefit people and the planet.
• Bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the WTO's mission.
• Learn about the organization's work and contribute to advancing its goals.

• Receive advice and mentoring from the WTO Secretariat.
• Obtain support for organizing WTO-related activities in their home countries.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Be aged 18 to 28 on the closing date for applications, with a strong interest in international trade.
• Be a citizen of a WTO member.
• Not be currently affiliated with the WTO or have a relative who is currently WTO-affiliated.
• Demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English (knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset).
• Exhibit diplomacy, respect for diverse perspectives, and a willingness to foster understanding of trade issues.
• Commit to fully participate in the one-year programme (July 2026–June 2027).

📝 Application Process

Required Documents:

Applicants must submit the following:

1. CV (no more than two pages).
2. 2-minute video introducing themselves, expressing their interest in the programme, and explaining the impact they hope to have as a Young Trade Leader.
3. A written contribution (max. 300 words) answering one of the following questions (select only one):
   • How can trade better serve the next generation?
   • What role should young people play in shaping the future of trade?

Submission Details:

• Applications must be submitted via the online application form.
• The application period closes on 1 May 2026 (23:59 CET).
• Late submissions will not be accepted.
