βœ… Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be aged 18 to 28 on the closing date for applications, with a strong interest in international trade.
  • Be a citizen of a WTO member.
  • Not be currently affiliated with the WTO or have a relative who is currently WTO-affiliated.
  • Demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English (knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset).
  • Exhibit diplomacy, respect for diverse perspectives, and a willingness to foster understanding of trade issues.
  • Commit to fully participate in the one-year programme (July 2026–June 2027).

Required Documents:

Applicants must submit the following:

  1. CV (no more than two pages).
  2. 2-minute video introducing themselves, expressing their interest in the programme, and explaining the impact they hope to have as a Young Trade Leader.
  3. A written contribution (max. 300 words) answering one of the following questions (select only one):
    • How can trade better serve the next generation?
    • What role should young people play in shaping the future of trade?

Submission Details:

  • Applications must be submitted via the online application form.
  • The application period closes on 1 May 2026 (23:59 CET).
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
