Student Energy Career Training Program
The Student Energy Career Training Program (SECT) is a multi-disciplinary initiative designed to build leadership and employability skills through energy education, project management training, individualized career coaching, teamwork, and experiential learning opportunities with leading energy companies. This year, the program focuses on African women interested in advancing their careers in the energy transition on the African continent.

๐ About the Program
With an estimated 30 million jobs to be created in low-carbon technologies by 2030, research predicts that 3.3 million of these green jobs will be in Africa. However, many young African women face barriers in accessing these opportunities due to a lack of skills training, mentorship, and resources.
The Student Energy Career Training Program, in partnership with the Enel Foundation, aims to empower young African women with the skills, networks, and knowledge needed to actively participate in the energy transition.
๐ Program Schedule
Mid-July to Mid-August: Coursework
- Attend the Launch Webinar.
- Complete the General Curriculum on the Learning Hub (6 learning units + 1 assignment).
- Participate in introductory coaching calls with your assigned coach and project team.
Time Commitment: ~4 hours per week.
Mid-August to Mid-December: Active Participation and Practicum Project
- Participate in two mandatory weekly meetings (one with your Project Partner and one with your project team).
- Work on the Practicum Project, including delivering a final presentation and completing project deliverables.
- Complete the Specialized Curriculum videos on the Learning Hub (6 learning units).
Time Commitment: ~10 hours per week for tasks and 2 hours for meetings.
Early January to Early February: Career Development and Coaching
- Complete five career development learning units.
- Attend professional development webinars and one-on-one career coaching sessions.
Time Commitment: ~4 hours per week.

โ Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to women in Africa aged 18-30 years who are interested in working in the sustainable energy sector. It is delivered fully online in English. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- English Language Fluency: Comfortable communicating with global peers, SECT coaches, and industry partners in English.
- Education: Completed or currently enrolled in a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree program (any discipline).
- Reliable Internet Access: Ability to participate in virtual sessions, complete online coursework, and collaborate with peers.
- Nationality and Location: Must have African nationality and currently reside in an African country.
