CISAC Fellows spend the academic year conducting research and writing, participating in seminars, and collaborating with leading faculty and researchers. ✅ Fellowship Requirements

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements during their fellowship:

  1. Complete an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and review it with a mentor within the first month of the appointment.
  2. Meet with a faculty mentor at least once per month to refine research topics, discuss progress, and receive career guidance.
  3. Regularly attend and engage with CISAC’s weekly research seminar and coordinate one panel.
  4. Participate in and host one of the fellowship dinners with research seminar panel participants (expenses covered by CISAC).
  5. Attend the Fellows’ Policy Workshop (typically 2–3 sessions per month).
  6. Make tangible progress on the proposed research project, such as:
    • Completing dissertation or book chapters
    • Publishing at least one article in a peer-reviewed journal
  7. Write a short op-ed or media piece (blog posts are not eligible) to share insights from scholarly work with the public.
  8. Submit quarterly fellowship reports summarizing research, writing, and presentation activities.
  9. Produce at least one policy-focused document for a mock congressional testimony or NSC simulation session.
  10. Participate as a head of state in the winter quarter simulation for the course “International Security in a Changing World” (if selected).
