Opportunity Overview

The Safe Online Youth Ambassadors Program is an initiative designed to engage and empower youths, particularly National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, to become leaders in digital safety within their communities.

📖 About the Program

The Safe Online Youth Ambassadors Program, brought to you by NerdzFactory Company with support from Meta, focuses on empowering NYSC members to advocate for responsible and secure online behavior. The program is specifically targeted at corps members in South Western States of Nigeria, including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo.

Why This Program?

A global study by Surfshark, an Amsterdam-based cybersecurity firm, revealed that Nigeria ranked as the 32nd most breached country globally in the first quarter of 2023, with 82,000 leaked accounts—a 64% increase from the previous quarter. This alarming trend underscores the need for initiatives like the Safe Online Program to raise awareness and equip young Nigerians with the tools to stay safe online.

The program aims to:

  • Educate corps members on digital safety.
  • Empower them to lead and implement digital safety projects in their communities.
  • Reduce the vulnerability of Nigerian internet users to cyber threats such as data breaches, identity theft, and online fraud.
