📖 About Nature Canada Young Nature Leaders Grant

Women for Nature have established a grant/bursary for a young person to develop and implement a project that celebrates the role nature plays in Canadian culture and identity.

🎁 Benefits of the Grant

• $1,000 grant to support project implementation in 2026, celebrating the role of nature in Canadian identity.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

• Individuals are invited to submit proposals for their youth-led nature projects.
• Employees of Nature Canada, their children, or relatives are not eligible for this grant.

Special Consideration in 2026:

Projects focused on the following areas will receive special consideration:

• Oceans and marine conservation
• Ecological restoration
• Protected areas and habitat stewardship
• Indigenous-led conservation initiatives
• Work supported by the Women for Nature network (volunteer time or promotional support)
• Projects that can be filmed for social media use and shared with Nature Canada and corporate sponsors

📋 Selection Criteria

Project ideas will be evaluated by a volunteer Grant Selection Committee based on the following criteria:

• Potential impact and benefits of the project
• Public engagement and reach
• Possible involvement of Women for Nature members
• Creativity and clarity of the proposed project
• Effective use of the grant
• Engagement of underrepresented and diverse communities
• Must occur within Canada and adhere to CRA spending guidelines for charities
• Only one submission per applicant

📅 Application Date and Process

Submission Options:

Interested applicants should submit either:

1. A two-page essay
2. A short video (in English or French)

Your submission should outline your proposed project. Successful recipient(s) may be matched with Women for Nature mentors based on the scope and location of the winning project.

Additional Requirements:

• The successful project winner(s) will be asked to share their experience and results in a blog or video, which may be published by Nature Canada and shared widely through their website and media channels.
