L'Oréal-UNESCO Young Talents Caribbean for Women in Science Program 2025
📝 About the Program
Created in 2023, the L'Oréal-UNESCO Young Talents Caribbean for Women in Science Program is dedicated to supporting the involvement of young women in scientific research and careers. The program identifies and rewards brilliant young women researchers in the following fields:
- Life and environmental sciences
- Material sciences
- Mathematics
- Computer and information sciences
- Engineering sciences and technology
The program aims to recognize young doctoral, postdoctoral students, and early career scientists in the Caribbean region for their academic excellence, originality of their scientific projects, and their passion for inspiring the younger generation. Despite progress, gender inequalities persist in academic research, with only 18% of senior academic positions in science held by women and just 4% of Nobel Prizes in science awarded to women globally.
