📖 About the Fellowship

The Humanities Research Fellowship (HRF) at NYU Abu Dhabi supports early-career scholars dedicated to research on the Arab world. This fellowship provides a vibrant academic environment on the Saadiyat campus, including:

• Access to NYUAD’s library
• Administrative support
• Opportunities to contribute to the university’s intellectual community

The program is open to scholars of all backgrounds and nationalities working in humanities disciplines, including literature, history, cultural heritage, arts, and interdisciplinary studies connecting the Arab world with other regions.

Note: Fellows are responsible for adhering to the tax regulations of their home country.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Recent PhD graduates (PhD completed between September 2021 and September 2026)
• Early- to mid-career scholars with a strong record of scholarly achievement
• Scholars aiming to turn their doctoral dissertation into a book manuscript suitable for publication with major academic presses
• Applicants from all nationalities and backgrounds working in humanities disciplines related to the Arab world

Required Documents

Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellowship are required to submit the following documents:

1. Curriculum vitae (up to 4 pages, single-spaced)
2. Project proposal (up to 1,250 words)
3. Abstract of doctoral dissertation (up to 250 words)
4. Two letters of reference, at least one of which addresses the candidate's progress on their dissertation. These letters should be submitted directly by the referees through Interfolio.
