The Harvard LEAD Fellowship for Promoting Women in Global Health provides global health leaders the opportunity to reflect, recalibrate, and explore uncharted territories. Since its inception, fellows have come from 18 different countries, including representation from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America. Their areas of focus have ranged from HIV/AIDS, healthcare, and health policy at the highest levels of government.

🎁 Benefits of the Fellowship

  • Fellows are required to take a leave of absence from their work responsibilities during their 6-week in-residence experience on campus, expected in April 2027.
  • The fellowship financially covers:
    • Housing
    • Flights to and from Cambridge, MA
    • Course fees
    • Daily per diem for food and transportation
  • Fellows will receive a stipend for logistical expenses.

βœ… Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Open to candidates from all continents, regions, disciplines, sectors, genders, and gender identities.
  • Minimum Education: Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional Experience: At least 10 years of full-time professional experience in the field of global health. Work completed as a university student does not count as professional experience.
  • Employer Support: Applicants must have the full support of their employer and a champion in their organization who serves as a reference.
  • Leave of Absence: Applicants must take a leave of absence (or equivalent) from their home institution during their in-residence experience for 6 weeks in April 2027.
  • Visa Requirements: Applicants must be able to obtain a J-1 visa for travel to the United States and reside in Boston, MA.
    • Visa fees, housing, flights, and a living stipend will be covered under the fellowship.
  • Fellowship History: During the two years prior to arrival at Harvard, applicants should not have participated in a full-time fellowship lasting 4 months or longer.
