The FFBC Black Medical Student Bursary is a needs-based award created to support Black students entering their first year of medical school at select Canadian institutions. This bursary reflects the Foundation for Black Communities’ (FFBC) commitment to advancing health equity and ensuring Black communities are represented and supported across all levels of healthcare.

Each recipient will receive a $10,000 bursary to help alleviate the financial barriers associated with pursuing a medical education. The program aims to empower the next generation of Black physicians by providing both financial relief and a signal of community support.

📜 Eligibility Criteria

This bursary is open to students who:

  • Self-identify as Black (including African, Caribbean, African Nova Scotian, or multiracial with Black ancestry).
  • Are entering their first year at one of the eligible medical schools.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Show a commitment to community involvement and leadership.

Eligible Institutions:

  • Dalhousie University
  • Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)
  • McGill University
