Digital Humanism Junior Visiting Fellowship Spring in Vienna
The fellowship aims to bring eminent scholars from a wide range of academic fields to the Institute and allow them to pursue cutting-edge research on all aspects of the digital society.
๐ About the Fellowship
The Digital Humanism Junior Visiting Fellowship is hosted by the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna. Every semester, a new Senior Visiting Fellow spends a one-month fellowship at the IWM, accompanied by two Junior Visiting Fellows. These fellows carry out their own research projects and engage in collaboration and discussions with the Senior Visiting Fellow.

Junior Visiting Fellows are expected to pursue research on digitalizationโs intersection with societal, economic, and geopolitical dimensions, as well as other relevant research foci from the humanities and social sciences. Fellows will spend three consecutive months at the Institute in Spring 2026, typically starting on the first day of the month and ending on the last day.

Postdoctoral Candidates:
Stipend of EUR 3,300 per month. -
Doctoral Candidates:
Stipend of EUR 2,750 per month to cover accommodation, living expenses, travel, health insurance, and incidental costs related to their stay in Vienna. -

โ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be currently pursuing their doctoral degree or have obtained a PhD no longer than four years before the time of application.

- Concrete research/writing goals during the fellowship.

- Maximum 550 characters.

Project Proposal:
- Maximum 7,500 characters (including spaces).
- Include:
- Objectives of the project.
- Discussion of the current state of the art.
- Methods.
- Project schedule.

Curriculum Vitae:
- Include a list of publications.

Two Letters of Recommendation:
- Letters must be submitted directly by referees via the online application system.
- Referees will receive an automatic email with a link to a webform after the application is submitted.
Additional Notes:
- All application materials must be in English.
