CJF Black Journalism Fellowships 2026

The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) is currently accepting applications for its Black Journalism Fellowships 2026. This program aims to amplify Black voices, improve coverage of Black issues in the news, and cultivate future Black media leaders.

📖 About CJF Black Journalism Fellowships

The fellowships provide a unique opportunity for early-career Black journalists (with 1 to 5 years of experience) to be hosted for six months at one of the following organizations:

• CBC/Radio-Canada (English and French)
• The Globe and Mail
• CTV News
• Institute for Journalism and Black Communities (IJB) at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health

🎁 Benefits of CJF Black Journalism Fellowships

• Fellows will receive a stipend of $35,000, paid in installments on the 15th and last day of every month.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the CJF Black Journalism Fellowships, applicants must:

• Be early-career Black journalists.
• Be located in Canada.
• Have 1 to 5 years of experience in journalism.

🗓️ Application Date and Process

• The fellowships will take place in person at the host organization.
• Candidates are responsible for securing their own accommodation in the host city.
• The fellowship program will run from September 2025 to February 2026.
