The Aga Khan Foundation Canada Teachers’ Leadership Institute (TLI) 2026 is a fully funded professional development program designed for Canadian educators teaching grades 6–12. The program aims to help teachers enhance their skills in integrating global citizenship, sustainability, and international development themes into their classrooms.

Participants of the Teachers' Leadership Institute will receive the following benefits:

• Fully funded program: All costs related to travel, accommodation, and meals for the in-person convening in Toronto are covered by AKFC.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the Teachers' Leadership Institute, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Be a certified educator currently teaching in a 6–12 setting in Canada (open to teachers across all subject areas).
2. Be based in Canada and available to attend the full in-person program at York University in Toronto from July 27 to 31, 2026 (arrivals: July 26, full-day programming: July 27 to 31, departures: August 1).
3. Demonstrate a strong interest in integrating global citizenship, sustainability, and global development themes into classroom practices.
4. Be willing to share learnings with peers and take on a leadership role in promoting global education within their school or district.
5. Be open to reflective practice and collaborative learning with educators from diverse contexts.
6. Be proficient in English, as the Institute will be conducted primarily in English.
7. Commit to ongoing engagement with AKFC’s Educator programming across the 2026–2027 school year, including trialing co-created lesson plans and providing feedback on their efficacy.
