βœ… Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a citizen and currently residing in a Sub-Saharan African country.
  2. Have graduated from a partner institution of the Africa Health Collaborative (listed here) and have not yet started doctoral-level graduate studies.
  3. Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership qualities during undergraduate and master’s studies.
  4. Be academically admissible to the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program.
  5. Show a commitment to returning home for the last two years of the program to contribute to the economic growth and social development of Africa.

Step One

Review the admission requirements for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program. If you meet the academic requirements, proceed to Step Two.

Step Two

Register and attend one of the mandatory virtual information sessions. Attendance at one session is required to be eligible for the scholarship.

    Date: September 3, 2025
    Time: 10–11 AM EST | 2–3 PM GMT | 4–5 PM CAT | 5–6 PM EAT

  • Info Session 2:
    Date: September 11, 2025
    Time: 8–9:30 AM EST | 12–1:30 PM GMT | 2–3:30 PM CAT | 3–4:30 PM EAT

  • Info Session 3:
    Date: September 25, 2025
    Time: 9–10:30 AM EST | 1–2:30 PM GMT | 3–4:30 PM CAT | 4–5:30 PM EAT

Q&A Session:

  • Date: October 1, 2025
    Time: 10–11 AM EST | 2–3 PM GMT | 4–5 PM CAT | 5–6 PM EAT

Step Three

Complete the Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarship application.

  • Application Deadline: October 10, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST (Toronto time).
  • Successful applicants will be notified by November 1, 2025.

Step Four

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete the program application for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program at the University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

  • Program Application Deadline: November 22, 2025.
  • Additional instructions and requirements will be provided by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
