📖 About Afreximbank Internship

The Afreximbank Group aims to promote and finance trade in Africa. As part of its mandate, the internship program is designed to:

  • Facilitate a broader understanding of African trade and trade finance challenges.
  • Provide insights into structured trade finance, which is the Bank’s operating model.

By participating in this internship, students will:

  • Gain knowledge about the Afreximbank Group’s mandate and operating model.
  • Contribute fresh and diverse ideas to the Bank’s operations.

The internship is open to:

  • Nationals of the Bank’s member countries.
  • Students of African descent in the diaspora.
  • Non-African students whose vision aligns with Afreximbank’s mission.

🎁 Benefits of Afreximbank Internship

While interns are responsible for their own upkeep (accommodation, meals, transport, clothing, medical insurance, etc.), Afreximbank provides the following benefits:

  • Transport Costs: Coverage of reasonable return fare to the internship location using the most economical and direct route, in line with the Bank’s travel policy.
  • Monthly Stipend: A tax-free stipend of USD 1000 and a housing allowance of USD 500 for interns relocating from their home countries.
  • Accommodation: Hotel accommodation (bed and breakfast only) for one week during the induction period.
  • Transfers: Transfer to the hotel on arrival and vice versa on departure at the end of the internship.
  • Visa Support: Relevant residence visa for the duration of the internship program, if required.

✅ Internship Requirements

To be eligible for the Afreximbank Internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment: Proof of enrollment in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study programs in a recognized institution during the year of the internship. Preferred fields of study include:
    • Economics
    • Business Administration
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Social Sciences
    • Statistics
    • Law
    • Sciences
    • Engineering or related fields
  • Nationality: Nationals of Afreximbank Group member states, students of African descent in the diaspora, and non-African students whose vision aligns with Afreximbank’s mission.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English or French and working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage.
  • Age: Applicants must be aged between 20 and 32 in the year they apply for the internship.
  • Exclusions: Children of Afreximbank staff are not eligible to participate.

📝 Application Process

Applicants are required to complete an online internship application form and submit the following documents:

  1. Letter of Application
  2. Current CV
  3. Valid Passport
  4. Certified Academic Certificates
  5. Recommendation Letter: From the institution of learning, specifying the proposed internship period (up to a maximum of six months).
  6. Statement of Intent: A short statement (maximum of 1 A4 page) outlining what the applicant expects to gain from the internship program.
