Residency
- Must be a resident of Alberta:

- Primary residence in Alberta for at least one year before applying.
- Must ordinarily live in Alberta for at least six months per year (exceptions apply for formal study).
Standing with AFA
- Applicants must be in good standing with AFA (no outstanding projects or reports).
Ensembles/Collectives
- Ensembles or collectives can apply if all project co-owners meet eligibility.
- Co-owners may include visual artists, curators, directors, composers, or writers with ownership/copyright or financial stake.
- Contributors like studio assistants or technicians are not normally considered co-owners.
