The Aalto Science Institute (AScI) International Summer Research Programme 2026 at Aalto University, Finland, is a fully funded 12-week summer research assistantship. It is designed for talented bachelor’s and master’s students (and recent graduates) from around the world. Participants will engage in cutting-edge science and engineering projects while experiencing Finnish culture through various social, outdoor, and cultural activities.

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Open to all nationalities
  • Must be current bachelor’s or master’s students or recent graduates
  • Demonstrated strong interest in research with relevant skills
  • Proficiency in English (no official test required if studies are conducted in English)

1. Check Program Details

  • Visit the official AScI Summer Research Programme page to review the project list, FAQs, and requirements.

2. Prepare Required Documents

All documents must be in English and combined into a single PDF in the following order:

  • Motivation Letter: Explain your research interests, preferred projects, and how your skills align.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Include academic and professional history with contact details.
  • Official Transcript: Academic record from your university (translated to English if necessary).
  • Letter of Recommendation:
    • From a professor, lecturer, or supervisor.
    • Can be included in your PDF OR sent directly by the referee to asci-interns@aalto.fi with the subject line: “LastName-FirstName-LOR.”
  • Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent) if required.

3. Submit Your Application Online
