Abstract
Sociology of quantification has dedicated less attention to mathematical modeling compared to other quantification forms like statistics or AI-based algorithms. This paper explores whether mathematical modeling concepts and approaches can offer refined tools to ensure the methodological soundness, normative adequacy, and fairness of numbers within sociology of quantification. It suggests that sensitivity analysis techniques can uphold methodological adequacy, while sensitivity auditing addresses normative adequacy and fairness. The paper also investigates how modeling can enhance other quantification instances to promote political agency.
