This paper presents a compact holographic near-eye display concept that combines waveguide and holographic display advantages to create true 3D holographic augmented reality glasses. The system uses a spatial light modulator (SLM) to control the output wavefront, enabling 3D holographic displays with a large, software-steerable eyebox and enhanced resolution. Prototypes verify the concept, showcasing full 3D images and addressing limitations of conventional waveguide displays.
