Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between general psychopathology, proneness to aggression, and their contributing factors in 2184 community youths. Proneness to aggression was strongly associated with higher levels of general psychopathology (discovery: r = 0.56; holdout: r = 0.60). Machine learning models (LASSO) identified shared psychological characteristics, and a Gaussian Graph Model (GGM) revealed that isolation and impulsivity were directly associated with both constructs. These findings suggest shared underlying psychological mechanisms.
