This study investigates the relationship between work-family balance (WFB), decent work (DW), and fertility intention (FI) in China. Using the job demands-resources theory and life history theory, the researchers hypothesized that WFB positively affects DW, which in turn positively affects FI. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of individuals of childbearing age. The results supported the hypotheses, demonstrating that WFB significantly and positively affects DW and FI, and DW mediates the relationship between WFB and FI. However, organizational support and family support did not significantly moderate the relationship between WFB and DW. The findings suggest implications for government policies on fertility support and human resource management practices.
