Abstract
This paper investigates the influence of literary fiction on social science research. A survey of 13,784 social science researchers yielded 875 responses, revealing that while early-career researchers show more skepticism, many social scientists recognize literary fiction's role in shaping research interests and understanding relevant subjects. The study also identifies frequently cited authors and texts.
