The Psychology of Misinformation Across the Lifespan

Ubiquitous social media misinformation threatens young people’s health and well‑being. This review finds that cognitive ability, thinking styles, and metacognitive scrutiny can protect against misinformation, while early adverse experiences and ideology bias information processing.
