This study investigates the causal effect of internet usage on women's bargaining power within households in China. Using data from the Third National Survey on Chinese Women's Social Status and the 2014 China Family Panel Studies, and employing instrumental variable methodology, the study finds that internet usage significantly enhances women's bargaining power, particularly in rural areas. Gender beliefs, employment status, and income level mediate this effect. The findings highlight the importance of policies aimed at expanding internet access for women.
