This phenomenological study explores the lived experiences of female immigrant carers in Madrid, Spain. Using focus groups and semi-structured interviews with 40 Latin American and Eastern European women, the study identifies three key themes: difficult lives, working in the home, and the vision of the other. Findings highlight the challenges faced by these women, including irregular administrative status, economic precariousness, emotional distress related to migration, and experiences of discrimination. The study emphasizes the need for improved working conditions, legal protections, and recognition of the invaluable contributions of immigrant carers to Spanish society.
