This study investigated the optimal sowing density of Elymus nutans for vegetation–concrete structures in slope protection. Six treatments with varying densities (control, 1100, 2200, 3300, 4400, and 5500 seeds/m²) were established. Aboveground biomass increased with density, while plant height, root surface area, root length, and underground biomass initially increased then decreased. Erosion resistance and soil shear strength showed a similar trend, peaking at a medium-high density (4400 seeds/m²). The optimal sowing density was determined to be approximately 4400 plants/m².
