This article explores the convergence, tension, and mutual learning between two dominant green discourses in contemporary China: "eco-civilizational progress" and "green modernization." Both discourses share common goals regarding environmental protection and sustainable development, but differ in their theoretical focus and approach. The authors analyze the historical development of each discourse, highlighting their origins, key concepts, and policy implications. They argue for a framework that allows these discourses to mutually learn and promote each other, better serving China's goal of building a modern socialist country.
