This study examined the associations between dietary trajectories across childhood and blood pressure (BP) at age 10/11, and whether these associations were explained by BMI or fat mass. Four dietary trajectories were identified: "never healthy", "moderately healthy", "becoming less healthy", and "always healthy". Children in the "always healthy" trajectory had lower systolic and diastolic BP compared to the "never healthy" group, even after adjusting for BMI and fat mass (diastolic BP remained significant). Findings support promoting healthy diets in early childhood to mitigate cardio-metabolic disease.
