This article investigates techniques and skills for overcoming challenges in interdisciplinary dialogue within expert panels. Analyzing five French ministry-commissioned panels, the study examines how panel managers utilize various techniques to manage the debate's opening, construction, and closure. These techniques, impacting the final report's submission, highlight skills acquired through experience in trading zones. The findings offer implications for forming and managing interdisciplinary expert groups and for understanding interactional expertise.
