Abstract
This meta-analysis investigates the use of AI tools to combat misinformation on social media during hazards and disasters. Analyzing 266 papers from Scopus and Web of Science, the study reveals a significant research focus on COVID-19 misinformation, with underrepresentation of social sciences and humanities perspectives. Most studies concentrate on misinformation detection, highlighting a need for research on the optimal balance between algorithmic recommendations and user choices.
