This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of yttrium hydrides (YH3, YH4, YH6, YH8) under high pressure, revealing superconductivity in the Im-3m YH6 and P63/mmc YH8 phases with maximum critical temperatures (Tc) of ~220 K at 183 GPa and ~243 K at 201 GPa, respectively. The study also investigates the discrepancies between theoretical predictions and experimental data for the yttrium-hydrogen system, finding that the predicted high-Tc phase Fm-3m YH10 was not observed.
