Abstract

This paper investigates public support for stringent sustainability regulations in global supply chains across middle-income democracies. Survey experiments in Brazil, India, and Indonesia reveal surprisingly strong support for aligning domestic regulations with those of high-income countries, driven by positive impact expectations outweighing cost concerns. These findings suggest broad acceptability of stricter regulations in both high- and middle-income economies.
