Abstract
This paper explores strategies to control the humidity sensitivity of azobenzene isomerisation kinetics in polymer thin films for optical humidity sensing. The research investigates how water absorption properties of the polymer, azobenzene content, and azobenzene chemical structure affect humidity sensitivity. A library of tautomerizable azobenzenes is studied, and simple strategies for optimizing azobenzene-based optical humidity sensors are proposed, aiming to improve sensor design and commercial viability.
