Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between soil microbial diversity and biomass across various global biomes. The research found a strong association between soil carbon (C) content and the microbial diversity-biomass ratio. Arid environments with low C content exhibited high diversity-to-biomass ratios, while C-rich cold environments showed low ratios. The study suggests that reductions in soil C content due to land use changes and climate change could significantly alter this ratio, impacting soil processes.
