Abstract
This paper introduces a soft, lightweight electronic skin (e-skin) for sensing the folding and deployment of tape-spring hinges in deployable space structures. The e-skin accommodates significant hinge deformation and enables multimodal sensing, including strain measurements, motion sensing, and dynamics monitoring, offering a promising approach for multifunctional self-sensing space structures.
