Abstract
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are highly vulnerable to climate change, particularly rising sea levels. This study assesses future flood risk in SIDS under various emissions scenarios. Results show that by 2100, climate change will amplify current economic damages from coastal flooding by over 14 times under high-emissions scenarios. Limiting warming to 1.5 °C could halve the damage, but many SIDS will still face substantial economic losses and potential forced migration. Urgent investments in adaptation and sustainable development are crucial.
