This study investigates the short-term impact of PM2.5 pollution on elderly mortality in Chile using satellite-based PM2.5 measurements and comprehensive public records. A 10 µg/m³ monthly increase in PM2.5 is associated with a 1.7% increase in all-cause mortality for individuals aged 75+. The effect is consistent across various demographics and geographical areas, with the most significant impact observed in the center-south and metropolitan areas of Chile.
