Abstract
This randomized controlled trial (RCT) assessed a self-help digital psychosocial intervention delivered via WhatsApp to older adults in socioeconomically deprived areas of Brazil. The 6-week Viva Vida program, compared to a single educational message, showed increased odds of improvement from depressive symptomatology at the 3-month follow-up. This demonstrates the potential of digital messaging interventions for addressing depression in resource-limited settings.
