Abstract

This paper proposes a new method for imaging scintillation events in a thick, monolithic scintillator using a high-resolution single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) camera. The authors demonstrate the ability of a commercial SPAD camera to image individual scintillation events and observe 3D shifts in their spatial distribution. Simulations show the camera's potential for 3D localization of scintillation events, and direct imaging of gamma-ray interactions is reported. This approach offers the potential to measure complex signatures of individual particles interacting within the scintillator.
