This study examines the community integration dilemmas of "new villagers"—urban dwellers migrating to rural China—using social space production theory. Qualitative methods (oral history, interviews, observations) reveal integration challenges across living, production, cultural, and social spaces, stemming from disparities in status, identity, values, and customs. The findings highlight exclusion in housing, cultural conflicts in production, value clashes, and social closure. Fostering cultural communication, shaping common values, and restructuring rural space are crucial for better integration and rural talent retention.
