This article examines the discourse surrounding science diplomacy, arguing that its widespread adoption stems from a romanticized narrative that idealizes science as a collaborative and rationalizing force capable of resolving global challenges. The authors analyze the concept's underlying narratives and interpretative schemas, revealing a simplified portrayal of diplomacy and a potentially problematic mythification of science. This idealization risks disappointing social expectations and the instrumentalization of science for political ends.
