Rhythmicity of neuronal oscillations delineates their cortical and spectral architecture

V. Myrov, F. Siebenhchner, et al.

Introducing the phase-autocorrelation function (pACF), a new method to quantify neuronal rhythmicity directly. Applied to human SEEG and MEG, pACF revealed spectrally and anatomically fine-grained cortical architectures, showed rhythmicity as a prerequisite for long-range resting-state synchronization and as dynamically modulated during tasks, and extended to measure oscillatory 'burstiness'. These results demonstrate rhythmicity is dissociable from amplitude and functionally relevant. This research was conducted by Vladislav Myrov, Felix Siebenhüchner, Joonas J. Juvonen, Gabriele Arnulfo, Satu Palva, and J. Matias Palva.... show more
