Abstract
This research investigates the impact of clean energy development (CED) on carbon dioxide emission (CDE) and economic growth in China, considering regional differences. Using panel data from 30 provinces (1979-2030), a non-parametric additive regression model reveals that CED's linear impact on CDE reduction and economic growth is insignificant. However, nonlinear analysis shows significant regional variations. The Chinese government should address these regional disparities to effectively leverage CED for environmental and economic goals.
