Reconciling flexibility and efficiency: medial entorhinal cortex represents a compositional cognitive map

This work introduces a novel computational model showing how the brain can build compositional predictive maps by treating each object as an alteration to a baseline open-space map, enabling efficient, flexible planning and reproducing medial entorhinal cortex responses like object vector and grid cells.
