Abstract

This study investigated the neural processing of pragmatic communication in young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using fMRI and video stimuli depicting complex social events. While overall processing was similar between ASD and control groups, differences emerged when participants observed situations with concurrent verbal and nonverbal communication, suggesting challenges in processing multimodal cues in complex pragmatic communication for the ASD group.
