Precise spatial tuning of visually driven alpha oscillations in human visual cortex

K. Yuasa, I. I. Groen, et al.

Using intracranial electrodes in human patients, this study shows that local increases in alpha power during visual stimulation reflect a mix of decreased alpha oscillatory power and increased broadband power; separating these components revealed alpha receptive fields that are larger, negatively tuned, and precisely suppressed by stimuli—explaining features of exogenous visual attention.
