Abstract
This paper examines whether post-2018 Ethiopia can be characterized by state fragility, failure, or collapse. Using a qualitative approach and data from secondary sources, the study finds that state fragility, failure, and collapse are related to the state's capacity to exercise a monopoly on violence and perform basic functions. Ethiopia is assessed as currently fragile and exhibiting signs of descending into state failure, with devastating implications for the region.
