Abstract
Atherosclerosis, chronic non-communicable diseases, and metabolic syndrome are highly interconnected global health concerns. This review explores the potential benefits of a plant-based diet (PBD) in preventing and mitigating these conditions, focusing on the dietary aspects contributing to their pathogenesis and the evidence supporting PBD's advantages. Separate evidence is presented for each condition, acknowledging their interconnectedness while providing a specific focus on each. The review concludes that a PBD holds significant promise for addressing the underlying causes of these chronic diseases and improving health outcomes.
