Neuropsychological testing is crucial for understanding brain-behavior relationships, but its validity is often compromised by examinees feigning impairment. This paper argues that digital technologies offer significant improvements to performance validity assessment (PVA). Five key advantages are explored: generating more informative data (e.g., response latencies, biometrics), leveraging advanced analytics (machine learning, item response theory), facilitating scalable and sustainable research, increasing accessibility (particularly for underserved populations and telehealth), and enhancing efficiencies (automated scoring, data analysis). While acknowledging limitations such as device variability and data security, the paper advocates for a transition to digital platforms to ensure PVA keeps pace with broader digital innovations in neuropsychology.
