This study investigates the combined impact of wildfire and pandemic on a network of hospitals. By combining wildfire data with varying COVID-19 spread scenarios, the researchers evaluate different strategies for managing patient demand. They find that loss of medical access is significantly impacted by the relative timing of the two events and that mitigation strategies and optimized resource allocation can substantially improve patient outcomes.
